There have been lots of exciting new developments within Dep Arts recently! Not only have we launched our new branding, we are also happy to announce that we will be working with two new artists; Pair Dance and Surface Area Dance Theatre.
Pair Dance will be joining our growing Incubate programme, designed to help the development and growth of emerging artists who wish to tour their work further. The company was founded in 2006 by choreographer Harriet Macauley and sound designer, Richard Leonard. Through Pair Dance’s work, Harriet explores the relationship between movement and sound with performers on the brink of their limits both mentally and physically.
The company’s ethos revolves very strongly around creative learning, working with artists and young people through the exploration of dance and movement. The company have worked extensively with a varied spectrum of people and communities both regionally, nationally and internationally.
Pair Dance’s Creative Learning programme (Body Basic & RUSH: Young Leaders in Our Community) aims to bring performing arts to suburban areas making high quality performances more accessible to those who struggle to travel into London. The company have worked extensively with schools and students in the Hertsmere region and have delivered dance workshops throughout the area. Recently, Pair Dance’s Creative Learning programme performed at Dance Digital Summer Showcase 2011 at Watford Palace Theatre.
Pair Dance will perform RUSH with special guest Letty Stott (Guildhall School of Music and Drama) as part of Dance East October Platform at the Jerwood Dance House in October 2011.
